Why use a dashboard for home remodeling?

The home remodeling process consisted of 4 design phases, Design, Plan, Build, and Review. A customer service manager from the Bamboo team helped out customers through the whole project experience by answering their questions and concerns. The idea of introducing a dashboard was to let customers have a visual understanding of their home project status and eliminate unnecessary questions to the customer service manager.

Problem & Research

There wasn’t a clear understanding nor a visual design provided for the customers of the ongoing home remodeling process. A customer manager was always providing answers and reminders to keep customers on track.

I conducted a one-to-one interview with a subject matter expert in order to find the pain points and common questions asked from previous customers in each phase of the construction.

Below It’s an example of the design phase providing a rough visual interface. The content provides information about how the customer can access their budget, design progress, permitting, team hours, and meetings. These were the areas where I found customers were most concerned from my previous customer service research.

Reflection

Throughout my design thinking, I found that being proactive in this field is essential. It takes researching, looking at the metrics, validating ideas and guesses into facts, and explaining how the design benefits the company and users at the same time.
